About Victim Services

Introduction to Victim Services

When you or someone close to you has been the victim of a crime, it can seem overwhelming. You may not even be aware that there is a continuum of Victim Service Providers here to help you every step of the way. It usually begins with a first responder victim advocate from your local law enforcement agency, Refuge House, or University Advocate Program. Once an arrest is made, The State Attorney’s office Victim/Witness Assistance Program advocates will provide support, information and advocacy to you and your family as your case travels through each stage of the Criminal or Juvenile Justice System. Then after the sentencing, there are post-conviction advocates available to help prepare you for what comes next in the event of an appeal or incarceration in state prison. We have provided contact information and links to all of these services for your convenience. You may also want to visit our Case Information tab which will connect you directly to the Clerk’s office in your county where you can look up updates on your case 24 hours a day. If you have questions regarding your state and constitutional rights, we have included that information throughout or victim services tab. We have also included a copy of our Victim Loss form where you can request your notification preferences and request your contact information be kept confidential. (The Victim Loss form will also be mailed to you.)

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns at (850) 606-6117 or you can e-mail our Victim Services Director at potlockh@leoncountyfl.gov.
